The German-French Lawyers Association (DFJ) pursue the promotion of the professional
and personal relations between German and French lawyers. Since 1953 we organize
joint congresses every other year lasting three to four
days alternately in France and in Germany together with our French partner,
the Association des Juristes Francais et Allemands (AJFA). Apart from the professional
discussions on the latest legal topics bilateral personal acquaintances are
cultivated in an additional programme by joint excursions and receptions. The
last joint conference took place at Dijon in 2009, the next one will probably
take place at Hamburg in September, 2010. In the years between the joint
conferences there is a national conference and every year we celebrate a
traditional "asparagus dinner" at the "Rheingau" and in some years Paris EXTRA in Paris.
At present, there are about 1.200 members in the German association, the French
organization has about 150 members. In our joint directory the members have indicated
their readiness to accept law clerk trainees and students for legal internships.
The membership dues are Euro 50,-- p.a., for law students and trainees they are Euro 25,--.
For students, trainees and young lawyers up to 30 years it is possible to obtain an
allowance in order to be able to participate in educational meetings. Guests and
new members are welcomed.
